Entering the Home Stretch

Just a quick update on NaNoWriMo 2020. I am entering the home stretch with just 10 days left to go. The last several days since my last update have seen their ups and downs and I am still behind my word goal, but the good news is I’m not fretting. I have made a ton of ground on my novel revision which was a huge undertaking for me, so that I can have this manuscript polished and query-ready by Fall 2021.

The process has been stressful, especially on those couple days where after 300 words, I decided I just needed to call it a day just to have the next be a moment of wonder when 2500 words came sailing out through my fingers. I’m sure this sounds familiar to others and we can all agree that we are writing and that’s what NaNo is all about; solidifying that discipline.

Now, I still hold out hope that I can reach the 50k word goal by November 30 but we’ll see as I move along what happens. I hope everyone else is doing well too. Keep writing and good luck!

I have been writing since my high school days to adulthood, moved over the years by my peers and the prose of the greats. Besides writing (and reading a lot) I spend my time being a dad to a beautiful little human that is growing too fast (along with parenting a few pet animals), a husband, and an avid traveler to the wilderness. I graduated from Purdue University and I live near Chicago, IL.

  1. This is why I prefer recording my word count by week instead of by day, because it’s much easier to adjust, as well as makeup for the slower writing days (and let’s face it, there are going to be lots of ups and downs). Wishing you all the best for NaNo!
